Gentle Giant has two, interesting exclusives for the upcoming Star Wars Celebration at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
The first one on tap is a Han Solo McQuarrie Concept Mini Bust. Based on George Lucas’ original designs for the character, Han wasn’t always to be a scruffy looking nerfherder. Instead, Lucas originally envisioned the one-day pilot to be a bearded Jedi Knight. And famed concept artist Ralph McQuarrie translated his vision accordingly.
Gentle Giant’s new bust is based on McQuarrie’s designs, done in 1:6 scale. Measuring 6.5 inches high and 8 inches wide at the base, the new bust was designed and modeled using Gentle Giant’s state of the art, 3D technology. Because of its limited nature, each bust comes with the all-important certificate of authenticity.
Also available at Celebration 2017 is a jumbo-sized Trash Compactor monster. Yes…that Trash Compactor monster. From Kenner Toys’ vintage Death Star Space Station Playset. Based on the original rubber toy lurking amongst all those foam pieces in the orange “trash compactor, Gentle Giant’s new Dianoga Trash monster has been lovingly reproduced in the 1:6th scale.
Measuring 6 inches high and 14 inches long, the trash monster was scanned from the original toy. He even comes with 3-color foam pieces, just like the original and is packaged in a vintage-style Kenner Toys box.
The Gentle Giant Han Solo McQuarrie Concept Mini Bust retails for $120 and the Trash Compactor Monster for $80. You can pick yours up at Gentle Giant’s booth (3132) at Star Wars Celebration starting on April 13th. Or, if you’re a member of Gentle Giant’s Premier Guild, you can pre-order them right now at Gentle Giant’s website.
