A bit of bad news tonight…it looks like Disney Interactive is putting an end to Disney Infinity.  It was announced on their blog today that after two more releases (Alice through the Looking Glass in May and Finding Dory coming in June) the game is shutting down for good.

Not only is the game shuttering it’s doors, but so is Avalanche Software, the studio behind Disney Infinity.  Disney plans to continue to license their properties to other video game makers, but have no intention of making games in house any longer.  According to Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company, “We did not have enough confidence in the {video game} business in terms of it being stable enough.”

Disney shutting down the Disney Infinity video gameJohn Blackburn, GM of Disney Infinity, left a touching goodbye on the Disney Infinity blog, “But most of all, I want to again thank you for making Disney Infinity a part of your lives—and for adding to the Disney legacy by being a part of this community.”
