2017 is shaping up to be a big year for NECA, who might’ve had the biggest surprise at this year’s International Toy Fair in New York City.

Quarter scale figures

NECA had several new ¼ scale figures on display.  Like a massively massive Hulk (with fabric pantalones and an extra set of hands), Daredevil (with an alternate Matt Murdock head sculpt and mask), Doctor Strange (based on Benedict Cumberbatch’s portrayal of the character in 2016’s “Doctor Strange”), Iron Man’s Mark XLII armor from “Iron Man 2” and Chris Evan’s Captain America from “Captain America:  Civil War.”

Also on display at the booth was Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman from “Batman Returns” along side all four of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (based on their appearances in the 1990 hit “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) and an 18 inch Freddy Krueger from “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”

Action figures

Plenty of new figures coming from NECA in 2017.  The Evil Dead line expands into “Evil Dead 2” territory with a 30th anniversary two pack of Ash (chainsaw) and and undead Ed figure; new figures from the “Team Fortress 2” video game; Drago, Apollo and Rocky from “Rocky IV;” and Jesse and Cassidy based on AMC’s “Preacher.”

The Predator line grows in 2017, as well, for the 30th Anniversary of “Predator” with the additions of the Ultimate Jungle Predator and Broken Tusk Predator (from Dark Horse Comics) and an all new Jungle Demon (just to name a few).

The biggest deal of the booth, and perhaps Toy Fair in general?  The new line of DC heroes v AVP two-packs.  In this case, NECA had on display a Superman v Aliens two-pack inspired by the 1995 Dark Horse/DC Comics Crossover “Superman vs Aliens” by Dan Jurgens and Kevin Nowlan.  And two Batman/Aliens two-packs:  A “standard” Batman with a Joker inspired Alien and an armored Batman v Predator from the 1991 DC Comics/Dark Horse Comics crossover “Batman versus Predator.”
