I’m Mary Poppins, y’all!
The magicians at Hot Toys are at it again. This time around? They’ve taken actor Michael Rooker’s Yondu Udonta from 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and brought him to life as a sixth scale figure.
As part of the original Guardians of the Galaxy from Earth 691, Yondu was created by Arnold Drake and Stan Lee and made his Marvel Comics debut in the pages of Marvel Super-Heroes #18 back in January of 1969. The remaining member of an blue-skinned alien race known as the Centaurians, Yondu is able to control arrows through assorted whistles and sound waves.
Hot Toys new figure is based on Rooker’s portrayal of the character in Marvel Studios on-going cinematic series. The figure features movie accurate costuming like the Ravagers’ standard issue burgundy overcoat, short jacket, slacks and black boots. With 30 points of articulation, Yondu also comes with an interchangeable magnetic fin and prototype fin, translucent red Yaka arrow, dagger, several hands (in various states of openness) and a cute lil Baby Groot in a Ravagers’ outfit.
There’s even a Sideshow deluxe version that comes with an Aero-Rig, cage for Baby Groot (damn that Taserface!) and Rocket’s blaster.
The Hot Toys sixth scale Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Yondu figure retails for $228, while the deluxe version retails for $251. Both are expected to ship summer of 2018. You can pre-order them right now at Sideshow Collectibles.
