Wow!  How bout that “Spider-Man:  Homecoming” trailer!?!?  Whew!!!  That was totally unexpected.   In case you didn’t see it, or need yourself a review, give it the once over before you continue.

I gotta tell you, I was totally not expecting the homemade suit to be in the latter half of the movie!  What a reversal!  Look at Pete.  Giving up that fancy tech suit.  That’s like…Thor being unworthy of Mjölnir!  Man!

Then there’s Michael Keaton as Vulture. More great casting for Marvel.  It’s kinda cool to think that Keaton played Batman at the height of his career, only to be cast as the main villain in a Spider-Man movie almost 30 years later.  I guess Harvey Dent was totally right when he said “You either dies a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”  If nothing else, it’s ironic.

Of course the saving of the ship is the highlight of the trailer.  Neat, but I think we’ve seen that stunt before (read: “Spider-Man 2”).  Of course, Tony helping out doesn’t make it a complete rip-off of the saving of the commuter train.  Still.  Let’s just call it Homecoming’s homage to it’s 2004 predecessor and move on.

It really seems like Tom Holland is gonna walk that line between Pete and Spidey real well.  And Stark playing that protective father figure?  That’s good stuff.  Every kid needs a parental figure to rebel against.  It’s how we figure out who we are.  By being what we’re not.

All in all, a strong second trailer for “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”  You hear that DC?  Those are shots fired.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” hits theaters July 7th.

“I stole his shield.”  LOL.  Classic.
