All hail the King of Atlantis…Aquaman! Whatever you do, though, don’t ask if he just “talks to fish”.
Created by Mort Weisinger and Paul Norris, the half human/half Atlantean Arthur Curry made his comic book debut in More Fun Comics #73 (November 1941). Since then Aquaman’s been a founding member of the Justice League of America, had his own animated series, lost his hand (and replaced it with a harpoon), had said harpoon replaced by a “water” hand and was eventually re-booted back to “normal” in 2011’s New 52 revamp.
To honor the King of the Seven Seas, Sideshow Collectibles unveiled the Aquaman Premium Format Figure. The statue, based on Aquaman’s classic look right down to gold scaling, is posed holding his signature trident. He measures 24 inches in height and 14 inches wide at the base. He also comes in two versions: The “standard” version and a Sideshow Collectibles exclusive edition complete with long hair, beard and harpoon hand.
The Aquaman Premium Format Figure retails for $429.99 and is expected to ship fourth quarter 2016. You can pre-order him now at Sideshow Collectibles’ website. And don’t forget…Sideshow has that handy dandy EZ payment plan…
