Prime 1 Studio and Sideshow Collectibles are bringing Spider-Man 2099 to the present day.
Created by Peter David and Rick Leonardi, Miguel O’Hara made his Marvel Comics debut as Spider-Man 2099 in “The Amazing Spider-Man” #365 back in August 1992. A geneticist working in New York in the year 2099, Miguel was tasked with re-creating Peter Parker’s powers of Spider-Man for a new team of corporate-controlled super soldiers. After a series of unfortunate events, Miguel’s DNA is altered; half of his genetic code replaced with that of a spider…making him (cue dramatic music): Spider-Man 2099.
Sideshow’s new statue brings to life O’Hara’s original Spider-Man 2099 look. A costume that he wore at a Day of the Dead festival, the navy bodysuit features a red skull (not thee Red Skull) spider-mash up on the torso and similar design work on the mask. Posed on a light-up based, the statue measures 27 inches in height and nearly 17 inches wide at said base.
The Sideshow Collectibles Spider-Man 2099 statue retails for a hefty $699.99 (don’t forget, Sideshow has that nifty EZ- monthly payment plan) and is expected to ship fourth quarter 2017. You can pre-order him right now on Sideshow’s website.
