Spider-Man_Vol_2_1_TextlessGood news Miles Morales fans, the Ultimate Universe’s last known Spider-Man is finally getting his own movie.  An animated one, but his own movie, nonetheless.

Confirmation of the animated movie came down from up high Sony Pictures press conference, which showed conference-goers some early footage of Miles in action.  The stand-alone film, with no ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the upcoming Marvel Studio/Sony joint “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” is written by the team behind “The LEGO Movie,” Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and co-directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey.

Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, Miles made his Marvel Comics debut in the pages of “Ultimate Fallout” #4 (August 2011).  Bitten by a spider that had been genetically altered by those fiends at Oscorp, Miles would go on to don the webs shortly after the Ultimate Universe’s Spider-Man, Peter Parker, was killed.

The as yet untitled animated Spider-Man film is scheduled to hit theaters December 2018.
